CD Players, Computer Audio, and Wi-Fi music

I admit it, I'm not a fan of Apple, and I've heard that iTunes is utter garbage on the PC. Why is it that it's better on the mac vs the PC? Was it really reprogrammed for the PC that badly?

nah. aac is aac. i use itunes on my pc connected to my home stereo system and the sound is perfect. amazing actually. i couldn't believe that steve jobs would dumb-down a product for windows ;-)

The main issue is that Windows uses K-mixer when you output music.  The Microsoft filter / equalization curve is not easily bypassed and really imparts its own sonic signature on your musical signal.   Apple does not use anything like K-Mixer and is thus more friendly to the original digital signal.

I've heard that Windows Vista does not use K-Mixer, but I cannot confirm this.
